What is a consumer focus group?

Clients hire AVENIR FOCUS to organize consumer focus groups in order to gather and analyze consumer opinions. These sessions are often used to support the launch of a new product, evaluate an advertising campaign, or improve an existing product through packaging tests, usability assessments, taste tests, brand awareness studies, or communication testing.

Each session lasts between 30 minutes and 3 hours, during which participants openly share their opinions and experiences with a trained moderator. The insights gathered are then processed, analyzed, and synthesized into a report for the company that commissioned the study.

Participants receive a compensation as a thank-you for their time and involvement. This incentive is not considered a salary, but a gesture of appreciation for their valuable contribution.

What are the different types of focus groups?

  • Group discussions: participants are brought together around a table with light refreshments and are encouraged to freely share and debate their opinions on a topic defined by the organizers.

  • One-on-one interviews: participants are welcomed individually by the research moderator, who asks questions about a brand, product, or service and collects their responses.

  • Online sessions: whether it’s a group discussion or an individual interview, participants join remotely via their computer, using a microphone and webcam to take part in the conversation.

Who can take part in compensated consumer focus groups?

Anyone can participate in these compensated studies, as long as they are registered in the AVENIR FOCUS panel. Once registered, you’ll need to complete your profile.

What should I do to take part in a consumer focus group?

Before you can participate in a study, you need to:

  2. Once you’re in our database, you may be selected for a focus group that matches your profile and preferences.
  3. If selected, you’ll be free to accept or decline the proposed session depending on the location, dates, and compensation.
