What Does It Mean to Be a Mystery Shopper?

It means secretly playing the role of a customer at a designated location. Your mission is to observe and objectively assess the quality of service and the customer experience in a store, supermarket, or any other type of business.

Applying to become a mystery shopper allows you to take part in qualimetry studies (Quality assessments conducted by companies) across a wide range of sectors and establishments.

Who Can Become a Mystery Shopper?

Anyone can become a mystery shopper, as long as they are registered in the AVENIR FOCUS panel.

To carry out your mission successfully, you’ll need to be credible, detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently.

During the mystery visit, you may be asked to play a variety of roles — such as a parent with several children, a dissatisfied customer, and more.

How Can I Take Part in a Mystery Shopping Mission?

Before you can participate in a mystery shopping mission, you need to:

  1. Register quickly and for free so AVENIR FOCUS can add you to its panel;
  2. Once you’re in our database, you may be selected for a mystery shopping assignment that matches your profile and preferences;
  3. If selected, you’ll be free to accept or decline the mission based on the location, dates, compensation, or any other benefits offered.

How Does a Mystery Shopping Mission Work?

  1. If you accept the mission, the AVENIR FOCUS team will provide you with all the instructions needed to carry out your assignment successfully.
  2. During your mission, you’ll act just like a regular customer. You may be asked to dine at a restaurant, contact the customer service of a major retail chain, buy a gift for a family member in a small shop, or evaluate a hotel during an overnight stay.
  3. You’ll need to pay close attention in order to report on your experience effectively!
  4. Once your mission is complete, you’ll be reimbursed for any expenses you incurred (such as parking fees, product purchases, or travel costs), and you’ll receive a compensation for your participation.
